「『翻訳』の悦楽と逸脱──AI時代の人間の創造性はどこへ向かうのか？」

今回のシアターコモンズは「翻訳」行為を、人間が行う創造的変換行為と広義に捉え、そのさまざまなヴァリエーションを複数演目で提示している。ある言語から別の言語へ、視覚から聴覚へ、振動から触覚へ……。「翻訳」のプロセスで生まれる相互作用や、生身の人間による快楽や逸脱も含めた創造性は、AIがその大部分を超高速かつ超精密に行う時、どこへ向かっていくのだろうか。

本フォーラムでは、シアターコモンズで上演される複数の作品／パフォーマンスの創作者の言葉に耳を傾けながら、本格的なAI時代の到来を前に、あくまで「翻訳／創作」の側から自由な議論を展開したい。未来の劇場／演劇は、人間が「人間であることを確認する」ために行く場所になるのか？　それとも？

“The pleasure and transgression of ‘translating’—Where is human creativity headed in the age of AI?”

For this year’s Theater Commons Tokyo, we interpret the act of “translating” broadly as an act of creative transformation by humans, and present a range of their variations through several performances. From one language to another, from visual to auditory, from vibratory to tactile—there is a mutual interaction that is born out of the process of “translating,” and a creativity that incorporates the pleasure and transgression of corporeal humans. Where will all of that go when AI performs the majority of this work at extreme speed with ultra-precision?

Before the fully-fledged age of AI arrives, we would like to use this forum for a free discussion—specifically from the side of “translation/creation”—while listening to the words of the creators behind several works/performances that will be presented at Theater Commons Tokyo. Will the theater of the future become a place where humans go to confirm that they are indeed human? Or what other possibilities might there be?

【Art Translators Collective「翻訳の葬式」個別プログラム紹介】🎤Art Translators Collective：平野暁人×篠田千明
「もうすぐ消滅するという人間の翻訳について」

人間の翻訳が終わり
人間と翻訳が終わったとき
そこに現れる世界とは？

翻訳家／通訳者／ドラマトゥルクとして舞台芸術界に独自の足場を築いてきた平野暁人が、「快快-FAIFAI-」結成と脱退、タイを拠点とした活動などを経て現在では国内外で広く活躍する演出家／作家の篠田千明を迎えて展開するソロパフォーマンス。
2025年1月1日正午、平野がnoteに発表した同名の詩的試論は、その圧倒的な時事性と黙示録を思わせる呪術的な文体により翻訳や舞台という業界の枠を超えて爆発的な広がりをみせ、賛否両論を巻き起こした。あらゆる創作を「翻訳」の一形態として捉える汎翻訳主義の立場から、テクスト（二次元）をパフォーマンス（三次元）へと自ら「翻訳」することで新たな回路とグルーヴを希求する。

When human translation comes to an end,
and humans and translation have come to an end,
what is the world that appears then?

Akihito Hirano has established a unique foothold in the performing arts world as a translator, interpreter, and dramaturg. In this program, he presents a solo performance developed with Chiharu Shinoda, a director and writer who is a former founding member of the theater group FAIFAI, spent some years in Thailand, and remains widely active both at home and abroad.
