Commons Stay in SHIBAURA HOUSE

  • Residence
A place that connects the local and the wider world.
Stay at SHIBAURA HOUSE, designed by renowned architect Kazuyo Sejima, where a new dormitory-style facility is born.

Since opening in 2011, SHIBAURA HOUSE has operated as a creative community space that connects the local and the wider world. After renovating an entire floor as a lodging facility, we’re proud to introduce “guest room,” a unique and beautiful dormitory-style facility that connects guests from around the world with the local community.
During the period of Theater Commons Tokyo ’26, there will be a special “Commons Stay in SHIBAURA HOUSE” campaign, offering a special rate for “guest room” accommodation. During this period, there will be performances (including Art Translators Collective: The Death of Translation; and Yuki Harada: Sleep) and a nighttime salon where participating artists, industry professionals, and other “guest room” guests and audience members can interact. Not only is this a chance to stay in a building in central Tokyo designed by Kazuyo Sejima for a special price, but also a new experience where the stay itself will be a journey inside an art community.

Notes for Guests

Because “guest room” is a lodging facility designed so that guests can feel a connection with the local city and community, your stay here will differ greatly from a typical hotel or dormitory. When considering a stay at “guest room,” we ask for your understanding with respect to the notes below before making a reservation.
– This building is covered in glass, so there will be plenty of sunlight during the day and illumination from city lights will enter during the evening. (Curtains can help regulate light levels, but the space may not be suitable for people who are sensitive to light.)
– The staff members who clean and serve breakfast are our neighbors and local community members. Rather than expecting a hotel-like hospitality service, please enjoy getting to know them.
– The front desk will be unattended at certain times of the day and certain days of the week.
– Please enjoy your stay with an open mind.
